My first encounter with yoga was as a dancer at the age of 15. I then dedicated the past 5 decades to discovering its secrets to examine the function of the physical body and its relationship to inner peace.
I studied under many teachers, both the well known and the uncelebrated, examined and experienced their different styles of hatha yoga to better differentiate between that which merely serves as a momentary fascination for our restless minds and bodies, (and thus have no real benefits to us in the long run), and that which truly supports and strengthens our bodies and mind during our ongoing search for inner peace and physical wellbeing.
I spent the first half of my life as a dance, learning how essential it is to develop a strong, supple, and healthy body. Without these attributes, it is next to impossible to achieve the balance and harmony necessary to take on the obstacles encountered in our search for a consciousness that supports us in enjoying this life to its fullest.
In my experience, hatha yoga is an extremely powerful tool for inner transformation, as long as we do not take it as an end in itself.
Hatha yoga is a means to strengthen our intention and focus and to strengthen our bodies so that they can become a reliable source of support and a firm foundation for our true Self that far exceeds our limitations that bind us to the misery and frustrations we encounter in this world of form.
True yoga transcends everything we learn or attain on a physical level, although mastery of the body and mind is essential to realize this. True yoga can lead us back to the recognition that life is so much more than we could ever imagine.
Floyoga is my attempt to integrate all that I have learned and am learning and allow me to pass this wonderful knowledge on to my students
